St. Francis Church Hathras
HISTORY

In July 1972 Fr. Jose Maliekal was entrusted with the work of opening a school, at the pressing invitation of many of the leading people of Hathras, especially by the members of the Lions’ Club, who contacted Fr. Columban, OFM Cap for the purpose and who did the spade work. The school was houses in the first floor of H. H. Oil Mills for three years. Later it was shifted to Agarwal Garden. In 1980, Fr. Vijayan OFM Cap managed to get a plot near the Popia Canal, on Aligarh-Agra Road. It is on this land the Church, School and Convent were built. The Mission Sisters of Ajmer are working in the school. Fr. John Ferreira started a hostel for poor children.
