St. Mary's Mission Etawah
HISTORY

The Catholic Mission at Etawahbegan in 1967. Fr. Lawrence OFM Cap. took the initiative to start the Mission.The mission was known as Church of Portuincula. Both the Capuchin and IMSFathers have worked here till 1975. Meanwhile the SMA Sisters started the St.Mary's Convent School in 1967 In 1975 the Mission was handed over to theArchdiocese of Changanacherry. Fr. Kuruvilla Kokatt and Fr. Jose Poovathinkalreached the Mission on 1st May 1975. The CMC Sisters of Changanacherry provincejoined them.

The SMA Sisters handed over the school to the Archdiocese ofChanganacherry. The primary school then handed over is now St. Mary's InterCollege. At present the CMC Sisters of Mount Carmel Province, Bhopal assist thepriests of Chang anacherry in the activities of the Mission. The Parish Churchis known as Christ the King Church.
